Description

American Traveler is hiring a Chemo Certified RN for a Night Shift PCU/Oncology position requiring a CA RN license and the ability to float to Med Surg.

Details

  • PCU/Oncology unit with 8 beds and an average census of 8
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Adult and geriatric patient population
  • Cares for medical/surgical patients requiring telemetry as well as chemotherapy patients
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating to Med Surg required
  • May also float to a nearby hospital approximately 15 minutes away, with advance notice given
  • Cerner charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required (EMSA not accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, Chemotherapy Certification, and NIHSS
  • TNCC or TCAR certification required before start (preferred at time of submission)
  • Chemo Certification required
  • 1:4 patient ratio experience required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Skills required include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, central line and PICC line care, port access, blood product administration, IV therapy, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, heparin protocols, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
  • Recent Nursys report required
  • One supervisory reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care for telemetry and oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
  • Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines, and ports
  • Perform feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis management for renal failure patients
  • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and administer blood products
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
