Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Asheville, NC, requiring neuro and trauma care experience on a 13-week night shift contract.

Details

• Located in a PCU on the K7 floor of a hospital in Asheville, NC
• 44-bed unit serving neuro and trauma stepdown patients
• Patient ratio is 4:1 at grid, 5:1 when stretched
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
• Charting performed in Cerner
• Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to stepdown and med-surg units may be required

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a PCU or related specialty required
• Neuro and trauma care experience required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Typical procedures include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain care, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
• Unit is staffed with 2 charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC per shift
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
