Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU - Acute Leukemia and Hematology position requiring telemetry skills and a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in acute leukemia and hematology patients, including newly diagnosed cases
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
  • Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 based on unit needs
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Day/night rotating contracts are also available; shift assignments may include days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs
  • Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
  • Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
  • No set or blocked scheduling — self-scheduling requests are accepted before schedule finalization
  • Charting is performed in Epic
  • Telemetry monitoring required throughout the unit

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Med/surg and telemetry experience required
  • Proficiency in interpretation of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring required
  • Experience with blood product administration required
  • Experience with central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care required
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting IVs required
  • Experience with feeding tube care and management required
  • Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols required
  • 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
  • Chemo certification (ONS) is preferred but not required
  • NIHSS certification preferred

Additional Information

  • Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
  • Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
  • First-time travelers will be considered and screened for this position
  • Former facility employees are eligible to apply after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract period
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after booking — candidates will receive detailed instructions from the credentialing team
