Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring OH or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of PCU experience.

Details

• PCU/Cardiac Telemetry unit within a teaching hospital setting
• Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Rotating or straight nights required
• Weekday and some weekend shifts with rotating holiday coverage
• On-call responsibilities required
• Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to patients on a cardiac telemetry/PCU unit within a teaching hospital environment
• Responsibilities include cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, and management of dysrhythmias
• Care for patients requiring respiratory support including ventilator care, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions and PPE use required as part of daily practice
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to work as travelers
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates with only 1 year of experience may be considered pending manager review
