Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring strong cardiac monitoring skills and an active Alabama or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• Patient population requires MS/Tele, Tele, and PCU/Stepdown level care
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Float to MedSurg units as needed
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license (Alabama or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Charting system experience required (any system)
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
• Skilled in blood product administration
• Able to start IVs and manage Heparin protocols
• Able to manage cardiac drips (no titration required)
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
• Experience utilizing Rapid Response/Code teams
• Knowledge of respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Knowledge of non-invasive airway management
• Proficient in isolation precautions and PPE use

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response care to telemetry and stepdown patients
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias as part of daily patient care
• Must work at least one designated holiday (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day)
• Requested time off (RTO) limited to a maximum of 7 days
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel position

• Local candidates residing within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate
• Hospital housing available for this assignment
