Progressive Care Unit RN - Night Shift

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30), requiring 6 weekend shifts per every 6-week schedule.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will be adept at caring for adult patients who have experienced traumatic injuries and need meticulous monitoring and intervention. This role requires proficiency in telemetry monitoring and strong collaboration with an interdisciplinary support team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 41-bed progressive care unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing up to 1:5.
• Monitor telemetry and administer medications according to protocols.
• Collaborate with IV teams, respiratory services, and other interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Manage and assess patients with injuries related to trauma, including but not limited to gunshot wounds and motor vehicle accidents.
• Utilize clinical skills such as IV management, wound care, and administration of blood products.
• Participate actively in rapid response situations and emergency care as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• 2+ years of experience as an RN in a similar unit, with preference for trauma experience
• ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR
• Competency in managing various procedures such as central line care, tracheostomy care, and telemetry monitoring
