Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit position requiring 2+ years of cardiac telemetry experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in a 24-bed Progressive Cardiac Telemetry Unit (PCTU) providing intermediate ICU-level care
• Patient ratio of 4:1 with an average daily census of 24
• Adult and geriatric patient population with heart failure, post-procedural cardiac, renal, and surgical conditions
• Care includes patients pre/post cardiac catheterization, EP procedures, TAVR, Watchman device, and Mitral Clip placements
• Manages patients on vasoactive drips, insulin drips, arterial/venous sheaths, and high flow oxygen therapies (HFNC, BiPAP, Opti-flow)
• Continuous EKG, EEG, and pulse oximetry monitoring used on the unit
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
• Option for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Some floating required to the Cardiac Telemetry unit, with ratios up to 1:6 in Med Surg assignments
• Self-scheduling based on unit needs
• Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with telemetry, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Experience with peripheral line care/management and non-invasive airway management required
• Post cardiac catheterization and post cardiac/vascular surgical experience required
• Charge nurse experience and wound care/wound vac skills preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references accepted at submission)

Additional Information

• Provide intermediate-level cardiac and medical/surgical nursing care including monitoring, medication management, and post-procedural support
• Collaborate with the outpatient heart failure clinic on comprehensive disease management for chronic heart failure patients
• Participate in patient and family education, emotional support, and end-of-life care as needed
• Assist with elective/emergent cardioversions alongside cardiologist and anesthesia teams
• Provide emergency response support for cardiac/respiratory arrest per Code Blue policy
• 36 hours of on-unit orientation required
• Scrub attire consists of any combination of navy and white
• Local candidates accepted within 50 miles at a lower pay rate
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose prior employment details
• Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO up to 7 days may be auto-approved excluding holidays; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
