Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care/Trauma Telemetry Unit night shift position, requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications and a SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit caring for adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries requiring surgical intervention
- Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed
- Unit equipped with telemetry monitoring for up to 14 patients
- Patient population includes those with gunshot wounds, penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- 36 hours per week
- 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
- Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, PT, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary
- Floating to other units or campuses may be required based on census needs, limited to competencies already demonstrated
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a similar unit required
- 2+ years of specialty experience required for first-time travelers
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
- Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and tracheostomy management preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry required
- Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution/PPE experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to adult trauma patients requiring progressive care and telemetry monitoring
- Participate in interdisciplinary care coordination with rapid response and specialty teams
- Orientation occurs every Monday with annual compliance training required
- Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
- Medication competency test required prior to starting assignment
- Must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, unless a specialty exception applies
- Night shift travelers in this specialty may be eligible for consideration at 50+ miles from the contracted campus
- First-time travelers considered with 2+ years of specialty experience
