Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry night shift position requiring 2 years of stepdown experience and at least one completed travel assignment.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC/Stepdown)
• Cardiac and neurological telemetry patient population, including CVA cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Charting completed in Cerner
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
• 10 weekend shifts required per contract
• Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity when census drops

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or compact license required)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• 2 years of recent PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown telemetry experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac drip titration and heparin protocols
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry-based nursing care within a stepdown/PCU setting
• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response activation as needed
• Navy blue/white scrubs required; scrubs not provided
• Flu vaccine required for all employees
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
