Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring prior travel experience and both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) licensure due to floating requirements.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a tertiary care hospital
• Patient population includes pulmonary, wound, urology, cardiac, neuro, and renal diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM-7:15 PM)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule (combination of Fri/Sat/Sun)
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active RN license required, Kansas and Missouri or compact license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills required include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, PCA management, chest tube care, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound/wound vac care
• Preferred skills include cardiac telemetry, ER holding, dysrhythmia management, rapid response team experience, feeding tube care, renal failure management, CVA care, tracheostomy management, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and surgical drain care
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry monitoring and cardiac care within a 5-time Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Trauma hospital
• Navy scrub color required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, all requests must be finalized prior to consideration
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Previous BJC or Saint Luke's employees must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of employment, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Free parking provided
• Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start date
• Facility may offer position without an interview, though interviews can be accommodated if requested
