Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU (Pulmonary/GI) position requiring an active VA or compact RN license and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Hospitalist PCU unit with a primary Pulmonary/GI patient focus
  • Serves adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of 27
  • No ventilated patients on this unit
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • May work without CNA support
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12s, 6:45p-7:15a
  • Weekend requirement of EOW or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
  • Must work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
  • Floating required within skillset
  • Epic charting experience required

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required (single-state license from non-compact state accepted pending)
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings required
  • Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care experience
  • Experience with cardiac drips (Cardizem, no titration), Insulin drip protocol, Heparin drip protocol, and Amiodarone
  • Respiratory support experience including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Experience with rapid response/code teams and isolation precautions
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital experience preferred

  • Provide direct patient care in a hospitalist PCU setting focused on Pulmonary/GI cases
  • Utilize rapid response/code teams and isolation precautions as needed
  • Located within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates may be accepted; a radius rule applies for eligibility and bill rate considerations
  • Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, regardless of separation period, though case-by-case exceptions may be reviewed
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
