Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit

Position Overview

This position offers guaranteed hours within a dedicated team environment, focusing on patient care in a Progressive Care Unit.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 (AM), 1:4 (AM or PM), 1:5 (PM)
• Staffing Description: Primarily RN-based care with unit secretaries scheduled 7 am - 7 pm.
• Type of Equipment: BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo Feeding Pumps.
• Documentation System: Meditech.

Scheduling Requirements

• Full-Time Staff: 36 hours/week with a rotating schedule, including every third weekend.
• Part-Time Staff: 48 hours/week with a similar weekend rotation.
• PRN Staff:
  • PRN 1: 3 shifts in a 4-week period with 1 weekend shift requirement.
  • PRN 2: 6 shifts in a 4-week period with 3 weekend shift requirements.
• Holidays: Rotating holiday schedule.

Floating Policy

PRN staff may float once per week, while full-time and part-time staff float based on a rotation by date. Bonus shifts will float first.

Patient Experience Standards

• Bedside shift report.
• Hourly rounding.
• Daily leadership rounds.

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Qualifications

• Advanced assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Experience managing vasoactive drips.

Typical Procedures

• Central Line or PICC line placement.
• Chest tube placements.

Dress Code

Uniform consists of charcoal gray scrub tops and black or charcoal gray scrub bottoms, with the option of unit-specific jackets.
