Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Telemetry position at an academic medical center in Ohio, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and strong cardiac monitoring skills.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an academic teaching hospital setting
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights)
  • 13-week contract
  • Patient population includes telemetry and step-down level acuity
  • Procedures include IV insulin protocols, insulin drips, and cardiac monitoring
  • Epic EMR (preferred experience)
  • MS/Tele and PCU/Step-down work setting
  • Respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
  • IV therapy including peripheral line care and IV starts

Requirements

  • Active OH or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Previous telemetry or PCU/step-down experience required
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
  • Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
  • Proficiency with telemetry monitoring and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
  • 2 professional references required: at least 1 from a manager, director, or formal leadership (e.g., supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to acceptance and will be built into the contract; RTO is limited to 7 days or less
  • Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after signing a contract — candidates outside of Ohio will need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or complete a mailed packet upon receipt
  • Former employees of this health system are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility; current employees are ineligible
  • Parking is available on-site through CampusParc via multiple permit options at the traveler's own cost
