Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position on night shift, requiring at least 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting
• Telemetry patient population including neurological/psychiatric, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and plastics patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Float required within OSU system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/telemetry nursing experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, PCA, and heparin protocols
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to progressive care/stepdown patients requiring close monitoring
• Complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location promptly after booking
• Candidates located far from Ohio will receive a fingerprinting packet by mail to complete urgently
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
• Requested time off must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
