Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring at least 1 year of PCU experience and current BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown setting at a teaching hospital
• Cardiac telemetry patient population with continuous monitoring
• Night shift schedule (3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30), rotating or straight nights
• 36 hours per week, weekdays and some weekends with rotating holidays
• Call required
• Float required within OSU system
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active RN license, must be Ohio state or compact license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with PCU experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, tracheostomy management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, central and PICC line care
• Experience with cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, and dysrhythmia management/interpretation
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director-level supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Manage patients requiring isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Provide care for patients with renal failure and endocrine/metabolic needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract due to strict compliance deadlines
