Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an active NY license in hand and EPIC charting experience.

Details

• 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) providing critical care step-down services
• Adult acute care patients transferred from the ED, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
• Continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring for all patients
• Care for patients requiring airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg-level care
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand, no exceptions
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required, 2 years preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Proficient in peripheral line care and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Skilled in respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols

• Adapt quickly to varying patient care needs within a collaborative team environment
• Scrub colors limited to any combination of navy and white
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
• Previous employees must have a 6-month system-wide separation to be eligible for rehire
