PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Travel Contract in Columbus, Ohio

PCU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Assignment Type: 13-week Registered Nurse travel contract
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Patient Population: Adults in a progressive care, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:3
- Weekend Coverage: Approximately 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
- Scheduling: Rotating or straight nights, including some weekends and holidays
- Orientation: 36 hours
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience in a PCU, progressive care, stepdown, intermediate care, or similar acute care setting
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Ohio or a valid compact-state license at the time of submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to care for patients requiring cardiac telemetry, ventilator support, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and complex medication infusions
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Comfort with floating to other units within the organization as needed
- Availability for required call coverage, rotating holidays, and weekend shifts
- Two professional references, including at least one from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Flu vaccination is required; medical exemptions may be considered
Progressive Care RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult PCU patients with cardiac and complex medical diagnoses
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac rhythms and patient condition
- Manage patients with chronic ventilator needs, post-lung-transplant needs, renal failure, and other high-acuity conditions
- Administer medications and titrate insulin and cardiac drips according to established protocols
- Provide central line, PICC, peripheral IV, tracheostomy, chest tube, feeding tube, and blood product care
- Interpret arterial blood gases and respond appropriately to changes in respiratory status
- Use rapid response and code team resources when clinically indicated
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Float to other appropriate units as needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
