Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Join a collaborative medical-surgical telemetry team as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week nursing contract in Columbus, Ohio. This on-site travel nurse opportunity supports adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced unit combining medical-surgical and transitional higher-acuity care. Travel Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, including weekdays and some weekends
- Weekend Commitment: Approximately 3–4 weekend day shifts per month
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Patient Ratio: 4:1
- Charting System: EPIC electronic medical record
- Float Requirement: May float to other units within the organization based on operational needs
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in a medical-surgical telemetry setting
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- IV certification and demonstrated competency starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records preferred
- Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills
- Proficiency with oxygen administration, isolation precautions, PICC line management, chest tubes, and rapid response or code team procedures
- Two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Willingness to complete required credentialing and fingerprinting processes promptly
- Compliance with the assignment’s current influenza vaccination policy; medical exemptions may be considered
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Assess patients, monitor vital signs and cardiac rhythms, and recognize changes in condition
- Start and manage IV therapy, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses
- Care for patients requiring IV antibiotics, PICC lines, chest tubes, Foley catheters, paracentesis support, lumbar puncture support, and other medical-surgical procedures
- Support patients with complex medical needs, including organ failure, altered level of consciousness, substance withdrawal, behavioral concerns, and developmental or cognitive challenges
- Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, recovery, and self-care
- Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams to coordinate individualized care plans
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
- Float to lower-acuity or other appropriate units as needed while maintaining patient safety and professional standards
- Participate in an inclusive, team-oriented environment focused on quality outcomes and excellent patient care
