Travel PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurses are invited to join a high-acuity travel nursing assignment in Columbus, Ohio. Provide telemetry-based care to adult, transplant, and complex medical patients while working nights in a collaborative progressive care environment.
Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 15, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Weekdays with occasional weekends and rotating holidays
- Patient Population: Adults, including transplant and complex medical patients
- Unit Profile: 22-bed combined ICU/PCU unit; travel nurses will care for PCU-level patients only
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients, depending on assignment and patient acuity
- Floating: May be required to float to units with equivalent or lower acuity
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, progressive care, stepdown, intermediate care, or telemetry nursing experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact-state RN license at the time of submission
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) documentation
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Experience with IV starts, central line and PICC care, ports, and blood product administration
- Ability to care for patients with renal, liver, or pancreas transplant histories; renal failure; acute kidney injury; infections; gastrointestinal bleeding; and uncontrolled diabetes
- Two professional references, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Flexibility to complete required credentialing and fingerprinting promptly before the travel assignment start date
Progressive Care Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adults in a progressive care and stepdown setting
- Monitor patients using telemetry and promptly recognize changes in cardiac rhythm or clinical condition
- Manage and assess central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, ports, feeding tubes, and other specialized access devices
- Administer blood products, insulin infusions, and other ordered therapies according to established protocols
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for kidney biopsy recovery, paracentesis, and other unit-based procedures
- Support patients receiving or recovering from kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant care
- Perform nursing assessments, medication administration, care planning, patient education, and accurate documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary support teams, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and rapid response teams
- Float to comparable or lower-acuity units when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
