Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an active NY license and at least 1 year of relevant PCU/telemetry experience.

Details

  • 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) functioning as a critical care step-down unit within a tertiary care hospital
  • Receives patients from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
  • Cares for adult acute care patients requiring continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
  • Manages patients requiring airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg-level care
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active NY RN license required in hand, no exceptions
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required, ACLS also required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent relevant experience required
  • 2 years of experience and previous charge experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Competent in peripheral IV line care and management
  • Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
  • Knowledgeable in non-invasive airway management
  • Proficient in isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Additional Information

  • Provide evidence-based, compassionate care using a multidisciplinary approach for critically ill step-down patients
  • Adapt quickly to varying patient care needs across a wide range of acute conditions
  • Scrub attire must be any combination of navy and white
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel pay rate
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
  • Previous employees of the health system must have a 6-month system-wide break in service before returning
