Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) | Westmoreland Hospital | Greensburg, PA

Location: Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Facility: Westmoreland Hospital – Independence Health System
Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week
 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to PCU/Stepdown patients with a typical 1:6 patient ratio.

  • Monitor cardiac telemetry and recognize and respond to dysrhythmias.

  • Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care.

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and implement individualized care plans.

  • Administer medications, including heparin protocols, cardiac drips (non-titrating), and vasoactive drips (non-titrating).

  • Provide care for patients with central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, and ports.

  • Administer blood products and perform IV therapy.

  • Care for patients recovering from stroke, post-TPA, post-cardiac catheterization, post-MI, and renal conditions.

  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

  • Participate in rapid response and code situations while maintaining accurate EMR documentation.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Minimum 1 year of PCU, Stepdown, Telemetry, or MS/Telemetry experience

  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Certifications (Required)

  • Experience with cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation

  • Proficiency in IV therapy, central line care, PICC management, and blood product administration

  • Experience managing patients requiring respiratory support, including BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC

  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Charge Nurse experience

  • Experience in a Teaching or Community Hospital

  • Experience in Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/Stepdown, or Telemetry Oncology

  • Experience with phlebotomy, ABG interpretation, and post-cardiac surgery patients
