Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry/PCU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring NIH Stroke Scale certification and PCU/Tele experience.

Details

• Work in the Pulmonary Step Down/Progressive Care Unit of a hospital environment
• 18-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Cares for patients with moderate physiologic instability including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and trach patients requiring cardiac and respiratory monitoring every 2-4 hours
• Support staff includes 2 PCTs and 1 unit secretary per shift
• Uses Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and Pyxis, with computers available in every room
• Charts in Meditech
• Performs oxygen therapy including nasal cannula, BIPAP/CPAP up to 80%, and AirVo low flow
• Conducts vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and continuous cardiac monitoring every 4 hours, plus neurological monitoring including NIHSS
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Self-scheduling required, including 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Floating prioritized by travelers, then PRN staff, then date last floated

Requirements

• Active KS RN license or compact license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Telemetry/PCU required
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac and respiratory monitoring and management for step-down level patients
• Focus on nurse courtesy, respect, and teamwork in patient care delivery
• Required uniform color is royal blue
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
