Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PCU RN with 2+ years of critical care experience for a night shift travel assignment requiring an active CO or compact RN license.

Details

• Med-surg PCU unit with mixed patient population including cardiac, minor trauma, respiratory, and mildly unstable hemodynamic patients
• All rooms are negative pressure capable and equipped with ceiling lifts
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Floating to sister units within the region may be required, with advance notice provided
• No on-call responsibilities
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
• First-time travelers considered, but PCU/ICU experience of approximately 2 years requested if this is a first contract
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration not required)
• Experience with heparin protocols, PCA, and feeding tube management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Computerized documentation skills required

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to a stepdown/PCU patient population requiring close monitoring and respiratory support
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
• Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks in 2026
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be eligible for local rate consideration
• Previous UCHealth employees must disclose prior employment history for eligibility review
• Candidates who applied to UCHealth's internal travel or perm staff positions within the last two years are not eligible for consideration
• Travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
