Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Shifts: 6:30 AM–7:00 PM / 6:30 PM–7:00 AM | Every other weekend required | Holidays as needed to meet unit needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed Stepdown/PCU unit serving a diverse patient population including young adults through geriatrics with diagnoses such as sepsis, STEMI, CHF, stroke, COPD, DKA, renal failure, and complex multisystem conditions
  • Titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin; administer and manage maintenance IV medications
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips independently using unit monitoring equipment
  • Manage high-acuity patient flow including admissions and discharges within the same shift, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5
  • Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary team members; may float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as needed
  • Participate in bedside report, hourly rounding, and commitment to a positive patient experience

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current NIHSS certification
  • Valid driver's license (required at time of submittal)
  • Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a score of 90% or higher during orientation week

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience in a Stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting with exposure to high-acuity and complex medical patients
  • Experience managing and titrating vasoactive or cardiac drips in a monitored unit
  • Familiarity with BiPAP and Airvo respiratory therapy equipment
  • Strong teamwork orientation with a positive, adaptable attitude in a fast-paced environment
