Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring MO or compact RN license and 2 years of recent telemetry/PCU experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting including MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, and Neuro Stepdown
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• 1:5 patient ratio
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule (combination of Fri/Sat/Sun)
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact license required; KS license also required due to floating needs
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent in-specialty experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
• Previous Charge RN and Teaching Hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and Rapid Response Team utilization
• Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Competency in respiratory care including chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin protocols, and post-cardiac/renal patient care
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution skills required
• 2 professional references required (1 supervisor-level, 1 charge RN, both within the past year)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive telemetry and progressive care nursing to a medically complex patient population
• Support includes access to Rapid Response/Code teams for emergent situations
• Pre-start EPIC training module required (test-out option available)
• Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start date
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted, with all requests finalized at time of consideration
• Returning staff must have at least 18 months tenure with a 3-month break in service
• Former permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
