Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of recent telemetry/PCU experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting including MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
  • 1:5 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
  • 13-week assignment
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities based on greatest need, including Emergency Department for inpatient holding
  • No on-call requirements
  • No block scheduling accommodations
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license required (Missouri or Kansas, or compact, in hand at time of consideration due to floating requirements)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code teams
  • Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
  • Experience managing respiratory equipment including chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with cardiac drip management, insulin protocols, and heparin protocols
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions
  • Two professional references required, one at supervisor level or above and the second from a charge RN, both from within the past year
  • Physical ability to perform direct patient care duties in a fast-paced clinical environment

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-surgical needs
  • Participate in charge RN responsibilities and holiday coverage as assigned by the unit
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time-off requests finalized at time of consideration and no changes permitted afterward
  • Local candidates not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
  • Previous BJC or Saint Luke's employees must have completed 18 months of tenure with a 3-month break in service, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Compliance documentation and required training modules must be completed prior to start date
