Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) licensure due to floating requirements.

Details

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting, including MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and ER Holding as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 18:45 to 07:15
• Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities based on greatest need, including Emergency Department for inpatient holding
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license - both Kansas and Missouri licenses, or compact license, in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
• Previous Charge RN and Teaching Hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Skills required in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV therapy, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care), IV insulin protocols, wound care, and isolation precautions
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
• SSN required for consideration
• RTO and scheduling requests must be finalized at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive cardiac and telemetry nursing care including dysrhythmia management, rapid response activation, and post-cardiac procedure monitoring
• Manage patients with feeding tubes, renal complications, orthopedic post-surgical needs, and surgical drains
• Administer medications including heparin protocols, PCA, and procedural sedation, and manage (non-titrating) cardiac drips
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted
• Returning staff must have a minimum 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service; former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travel partners are not accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Compliance documents due 2 Fridays before start date, with required training modules completed prior to start
