Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an active Iowa or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (6SW Post Critical) within a Level 3 Trauma Center hospital
• Patient ratios of 1:4, occasionally up to 1:5
• Patient population includes CHF, ablation, angiogram, TCAR, EVAR, DKA, stroke, pacemaker, and sepsis cases
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• Floating required to the ED and all inpatient areas, including local campuses within the same discipline
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active Iowa (IA) or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military accepted)
• Current ACLS certification (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military accepted)
• Current NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver's license required
• Skills checklist specific to PCU required
• Supervisory reference or performance evaluation completed within the last 2 years required

Additional Information

• Deliver professional nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team within a fast-paced trauma center
• Holiday coverage required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving)
• Limited time-off requests permitted during the Thanksgiving and winter holiday periods
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN in the float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments in another market within the past 12 months
