Job Description / Duties / Responsibilities
Provides care primarily to medicine patients requiring stepdown-level care.
Registered nurses provide care in conjunction with nursing assistants and the medical team.
Assignments are based on patient needs, geographical location of patients, and available resources.
Charge nurse does not have a patient assignment.
Commonly utilized skills include:
Central line management
Respiratory management
Tracheotomy patient care
IV starts
Peripheral lab draws
Arterial blood draws
Various IV drips, including cardiac, insulin, and heparin
Cardiac monitoring

Unit: 32-bed stepdown unit
Primary Population: Medicine patients requiring stepdown level of care
EMR: EPIC
Requirements Experience: 2 years License: RN (Compact Accepted) Certifications: BLS-AHA; ACLS-AHA; CERT-NIH Stroke Scale Travel Experience: Required Local Radius: 80-mile rule Skills: Trach care required Relias Exams: Required upon booking; 2 attempts.
