Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring at least 1 year of PCU and 2 years of acute care nursing experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (15E) specializing in Acute Leukemia and Hematology
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), with possible rotation to days based on department needs
• Adult and geriatric patient population, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, may be up to 1:5
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No chemo certification required
• EPIC charting system required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS
• NIHSS certification preferred
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current, consistent acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Oncology experience preferred (training provided for oncology patients)
• Skills required: MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Accessing/managing ports and cardiac monitoring/emergency response skills preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Special focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• RTO required at time of consideration and must be built into the contract
