Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Stepdown Unit. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Position Details

• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Unit and Patient Care Information

• Number of Beds: 40 beds with an average daily census of 24
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 during both day and night shifts
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Adult cardiac, medical/surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, respiratory problems, stroke, post-stent and post-pacer placements, renal failure
• Titration of Drips: Required, including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin
• Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Available with a ratio of 1:12

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care, including but not limited to:

• Titrating IV medications
• Monitoring patient conditions and responding to changes
• Interpreting cardiac rhythms and reading telemetry strips
• Utilizing respiratory equipment such as high flow oxygen therapy
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes

Work Environment

Our focus is on enhancing patient experience scores, promoting effective communication regarding medications, and maintaining a positive hospital atmosphere. The patient population is diverse, primarily consisting of Hispanic and Somalian communities.

Schedule and Orientation

• Shifts: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM and 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Commitments: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period
• Floating: Required to MedSurg or ICU as needed for PCU patient acuity
• Orientation: 1 day of unit-specific training
