Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an active NY license in hand and EPIC charting experience.

Details

  • Work in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a 26-bed critical care step-down unit within a tertiary care hospital
  • Care for adult, acute care patients requiring specialized monitoring beyond a general medical-surgical unit
  • Receive patients transferring from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
  • All patients require continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
  • Care for patients with airway management needs, BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
  • Maintain a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg-level assignments
  • Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
  • Work every other weekend
  • Floating to other units is required
  • Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

  • Active NY RN license required in hand, no exceptions
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
  • Competent in respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
  • Knowledgeable in isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Charge nurse experience preferred

  • Provide evidence-based, compassionate care using a multidisciplinary approach in a fast-paced step-down unit environment
  • Team adapts quickly to a wide range of patient care needs and acuity levels
  • Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
  • Candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Rehire eligibility for previous staff is 6 months system-wide
  • Candidates cannot have more than 10 days of requested time off (RTO) at time of submission
  • Call-off policy allows up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment
