Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring an active NY license and EPIC experience.

Details

Work in the Acute Stroke Unit (PCU) of a 39-bed combined unit at a tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds
Care for acute stroke patients, other neurological disorders, and acute medical patients using an adjustable acuity delivery of care model
Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Required to work every other weekend
Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg patients
Floating required within skillset
Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

Active NY RN license required in hand, no exceptions
Minimum 2 years of experience required
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
EPIC charting experience required
Teaching hospital experience required
Community hospital experience required
Trauma Level I experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required
Skills required include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management)
Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required

Additional Information

Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy including peripheral line care and management
Administer respiratory support via nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks with non-invasive airway management
Follow isolation precautions protocols
Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
Candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
Returning staff must have a 6-month break system-wide before reapplying
