Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry & Orthopedic Spine Travel Contract – Columbia, SC

Travel RN Job Details

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active South Carolina Registered Nurse license or valid multistate RN license
• At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical Telemetry or orthopedic nursing experience; 2 years preferred
• At least 1 year of recent Epic documentation experience
• Orthopedic nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Dysrhythmia competency or certification
• Ability to care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, post-operative recovery, and complex medical-surgical interventions
• Willingness to complete required orientation, compliance activities, and pre-assignment testing
• Availability to work night shifts and every other weekend

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult orthopedic spine, medical-surgical, telemetry, and post-operative patients
• Care for patients following laminectomies, spinal fusions, discectomies, cardiac catheterization, renal biopsy, and other procedures
• Monitor patients with cardiac conditions, low-risk acute coronary syndrome, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
• Interpret telemetry rhythms and promptly recognize changes in patient condition
• Manage and monitor heparin infusions and other ordered therapies according to protocol
• Assist with or provide care related to bedside lumbar punctures, CT angiography, post-procedure monitoring, and surgical recovery
• Support pain management, mobility, fall prevention, and rehabilitation plans in collaboration with physical therapy and other disciplines
• Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation in Epic
• Communicate effectively with providers, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Float to other qualified areas when needed and perform only tasks supported by documented competencies
