Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care/Trauma Telemetry Unit requiring active SC or compact RN license and telemetry experience.

Details

• Work in a 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit caring for adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries requiring surgical intervention
• Typical patient population includes those with gunshot wounds, penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed
• Telemetry monitoring available for up to 14 patients on the unit
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:30, 36 hours per week
• 6 weekend shifts required per every 6-week schedule
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Team, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Team, and Pharmacy
• Floating to other qualified units or campuses may be required based on census needs

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a progressive care/telemetry unit required
• First-time travelers must have 2+ years of specialty experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration required
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with wound care and wound vac management
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical trauma patients on a progressive care/telemetry unit
• Collaborate with a full interdisciplinary care team to support patient recovery
• Complete medication competency testing as part of the assignment requirements
• Complete required pre-assignment testing and modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Attend orientation held every Monday along with annual compliance training
• Night shift travelers must reside 50+ miles from the contracted campus to be eligible, with full eligibility at 100+ miles
• First-time travelers considered with 2+ years of specialty experience
