Job Description:

The PCU is a stepdown unit from the ICU, providing closer monitoring for ICU patients that do not quite meet the tele level of care. RNs should have experience in an ICU stepdown or PCU unit, with training in telemetry and high-risk medications.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor stepdown patients from ICU.
• Titrate arterial and CVP pressure lines, pressors, and other titratable drips like Precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and levophed.
• Care for trach and stable vented patients.
• Coordinate with nurse aids to manage a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Requirements:

• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
• Must have 2-3 years of experience in PCU or ICU stepdown units.
• Ability to float to telemetry or MedSurg as needed.
• Familiarity with charting on Cerner and understanding of HCAHPS and core measures.
