Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Stepdown unit position requiring cardiac drip titration experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown unit of a Level II Trauma Center teaching hospital
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • May float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors, with travelers prioritized first if overstaffed
  • May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • 48-hour work weeks approved

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
  • At least 1 year of recent RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Required skills include cardiac drip titration and management (hardstop requirement)
  • Additional skills needed: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line management, PICC line management
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team protocols required
  • Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac cath/surgery care, and sheath removal required
  • Wound care/wound vac experience required
  • IV insulin protocol and titration experience required
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to cardiac, renal, neurological, and GI patient populations in a stepdown/PCU setting
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Must disclose any prior work history with the health system, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles, with location and dates if applicable
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles to be eligible for the local, lower bill rate
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not currently reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • Candidates must select one holiday to work, either Thanksgiving or Christmas, and commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of consideration; post-offer requests may not be granted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
