Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a PA or Compact license and 2+ years of PCU/telemetry experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• Rotating day and night shifts on a 3x12 hour schedule (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Anticipated rotation pattern of 3 weeks days followed by 3 weeks nights within a 6 week schedule, dependent on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend
• Float required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry on the unit
• Care for patients requiring cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurological, and renal monitoring and management

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/telemetry nursing experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin protocols, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and nasal cannula
• Experience with feeding tube care and isolation precautions/PPE
• One supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration
• PA fingerprinting and ChildLine registration must be completed within 48 hours of signing a contract
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive PCU-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, and post-surgical management
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, starting and maintaining IVs, titrating cardiac and insulin drips, and caring for traumatic brain injury and ortho trauma patients
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue or white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered for this travel position
• Any previous permanent or per diem employment with the health system must be disclosed, and such employees must be separated for at least 18 months before returning as a traveler
