Description

American Traveler is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of pediatric cardiac echo experience for a travel assignment at a pediatric hospital in Orange County, CA.

Details

  • Pediatric-focused echo unit serving both inpatient and outpatient patient populations
  • Daily caseload of 4–5 studies per session
  • Cases include complex congenital anomalies, post-surgical repairs, and a broad range of pediatric cardiac conditions
  • Procedures include 2-D echo, color Doppler, pulsed wave and continuous wave Doppler, M-Mode, TEE, bubble studies, portable studies, and scanning of complex and post-surgical anomalies
  • Equipment includes GE, Philips, and Siemens systems, as well as PACS
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • 5x8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Travelers are first to float per facility policy

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of cardiac pediatric echo experience required; minimum 6 months of pediatric echocardiography experience required (3+ years preferred)
  • Graduate of an accredited echocardiography training program or equivalent experience in pediatric or adult echocardiography
  • Required certifications: BLS and ARDMS RDCS-PE; one of the following also required: RDCS-Peds, RCS, RCCS, or CCI RCCS/RCS
  • Proficiency in pediatric echo and routine scanning required; 3-D echo, color Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, M-Mode, portable studies, pulsed wave Doppler, RVIT/RVOT, TEE, and post-surgical scanning preferred
  • Experience with pediatric acute care and pediatric outpatient settings required; adult acute care and adult outpatient experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Two supervisor-level references from the relevant unit, dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer, required for consideration
  • License required if applicable
  • Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • Reports to the Clinic Manager as part of a patient care team responsible for performing cardiac echo studies on inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients
  • Pediatric anomaly experience is a key component of this role, including aortic arch abnormalities, coarctation of the aorta, coronary artery anomalies, double outlet ventricle, hypoplastic heart syndrome, pulmonary venous return anomalies, Tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great vessels, tricuspid and pulmonary atresia, and vascular ring
  • Experience performing procedures on patients in ICU/ED settings preferred
  • Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required, completed during the orientation period
  • First-time travelers will be considered with strong pediatric echo experience
  • Former facility staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered for travel positions
  • Candidates who are marked as Do Not Rehire from a recently merged health system will not be considered
  • Maximum of 7 days of RTO permitted; no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
