Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of CVPICU experience and PALS certification.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) of a children's hospital
  • 32-bed unit with an average daily census of 21 patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
  • Care for patients with post-op open hearts, single ventricles, complex cardiac anatomy/physiology, heart transplant, and heart failure
  • Utilizes invasive cardiac monitoring including CVP, ART, and RA lines
  • ECMO and CRRT exposure or experience needed
  • Administers vasopressors, cardiac drips, and sedation drips
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (CCRN preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of CVPICU experience required
  • Pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
  • Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and IV therapy
  • Proficient in administration of antiarrhythmics, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
  • Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system
  • Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • ECMO and pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) line management experience preferred
  • Post cardiac surgery care experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions
  • Former permanent employees of the facility are not accepted for travel assignments
  • Must reside outside a 100-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for the position
  • Candidates with PICU primary experience but floated to Cardiac ICU should note frequency of float assignments in their work history
