Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Float Pool RN with PICU and NICU experience for a fast-paced teaching hospital environment requiring PALS, NRP, and ACLS certifications.
Details
- Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 36 or 48 hours per week, with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- 13-week assignment length
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed per facility float policy
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
- Comfortable working in NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Previous float pool experience required unless prior NICU/PICU float pool experience can be demonstrated
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Peds PACU experience highly preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across multiple pediatric specialty units as part of a float pool team
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance and no RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
- Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
- First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience
- No radius rule applies to this position
