Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong PICU experience and the ability to float between PICU, CVPICU, and NICU.

Details

  • Work within a Level I Trauma teaching hospital's Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool
  • Care for pediatric patients across PICU, CVPICU, and NICU settings
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2, with ratios up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Every other weekend required, with option for blocked weekend scheduling
  • Floating required between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU based on facility needs
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Every other holiday required, with one holiday guaranteed based on preference

Requirements

  • Active RN license (DC required; MD/VA accept compact or state license)
  • Pending DC license applicants accepted, but must apply within 24-48 hours of signing and hold active license before start
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required (3 years preferred)
  • Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred
  • Strong critical care skills required, including ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, and interpretation of ABGs
  • Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and emergency medications required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across multiple ICU settings, adjusting skills to meet the needs of each unit
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and free of logos
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week of consecutive RTO requires extending the assignment to make up missed shifts
  • No RTO accepted after the initial offer
  • Previous travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least one year to be eligible for return
