Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong PICU experience and the ability to float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 320 staffed beds
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2, with potential for 1:3 when floating to NICU
- Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
- Required to float within scope between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU based on facility needs
- Every other weekend required, with openness to blocked weekend scheduling
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required; MD/VA applicants require compact or state license
- Pending license accepted, with active license required before start date
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required
- Strong PICU experience required with comfort floating to CVPICU and NICU
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across NICU, PICU, and CVPICU settings
- Care for a wide range of complex pediatric cases including congenital heart disease, post cardiac surgery, and post neurosurgery patients
- Scrubs may be any color as long as child-friendly and logo-free
- Every other holiday required, with one holiday preference accommodated when possible
- Maximum RTO of 7 days; full-week RTO requires making up missed shifts or extending the assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
- Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
