Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications for a night shift assignment at a Magnet-recognized children's hospital.

Details

  • Float pool position covering PICU and NICU as primary units, with additional floating to Pediatric Acute Care Surgical, Acute Care Medical, Intermediate Care, and Oncology units as needed
  • Care for pediatric patients across the full spectrum of acuity including acute, intermediate, oncology, neonatal, and critical care needs
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Patient ratio of 1-2:4
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating required across multiple pediatric units
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact) required, OR license required at time of submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and PALS
  • Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, respiratory care of ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, infection control/PPE, insulin administration, isolation precautions, pediatric dosage calculations, and urinary catheter insertion/management
  • Preferred skills include management of dysrhythmias and ICP monitoring
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)

Additional Information

  • Care for pediatric patients with acute, intermediate, oncology, neonatal, and critical care needs at a Magnet-recognized children's hospital
  • May float to affiliate hospitals nearby depending on unit needs
  • Must be available to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day)
  • First time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
  • Requested time off must be submitted upfront and cannot exceed 2 weeks
  • Former OHSU employees or previous travelers must have been gone at least 6 months to be eligible to return, and require a reference from the previous OHSU supervising manager
  • Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
