Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with 2+ years of PICU experience and prior NICU/PICU float pool experience for a night shift assignment at a teaching hospital.

Details

• Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, pediatric medsurg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hours per week; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (candidates may submit with certification pending)
• APHON, CPHON, and OCN certifications preferred
• 2 years of PICU experience required
• Comfortable working in NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED
• Prior travel experience required, or previous NICU/PICU float pool experience considered
• Peds PACU experience highly preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across multiple pediatric specialty units as part of a float pool team
• Must float within scope of practice as needed per facility policy
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules (up to 16 non-billable hours) recorded in Workday
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance and none during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed prior to submission to plan an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
• First-time travelers with relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered
• No radius restriction for this position
