Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Endoscopy RN with an active CA license and general surgery experience for a fast-paced procedure center position.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric Endoscopy/Procedure Center unit of a children's hospital
• Care for inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients, with adult patients on rare occasions
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Minor surgical cases include ENT, Plastics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, Dentistry, and Oncology
• Endoscopy cases including EGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and peg tube placement/exchange/removal
• Willing to train candidates to endoscopy as needed
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Call required: 5 weekday and 2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Weekend coverage required
• No floating required
• Uses Cerner (SurgiNet) for documentation

Requirements

• Active California RN license required in hand at time of consideration; pending or temporary licenses not accepted
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of acute or outpatient experience required, covering the majority of listed specialties
• Prior general surgery experience required
• Experience with EMR/charting required and must be verified
• Strong skills working in a fast-paced environment
• Two supervisor-level or above references required, from the applicable unit and dated within 1 year of the start date or from the most recent employer

Additional Information

• Care for pediatric surgical patients across a variety of minor surgical and endoscopic procedures
• Skilled procedures may include administration of blood/blood products, infection control, specimen handling, peripheral IV starts, and urinary catheterization
• Travelers are expected to float first if needed, though no floating is required for this role
• Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required, varying by specialty
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
• Former staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before reapplying
• Rehire eligibility is subject to review by facility leadership due to a recent merger with an affiliated health system
