Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Intermediate Care unit requiring PICU experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

  • Position within the 3C Intermediate Care unit of a pediatric hospital, with potential floating to PICU, Burn PICU, or NICU as part of an ICU cluster
  • ,
  • Patient population includes respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, tracheostomies, and other diagnoses stepped down from PICU
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4 in IMCU
  • CNA/PCT support available with 1-2 PCTs per shift
  • Advanced practice providers, hospitalists (until 11PM), and residents provide medical coverage on the unit
  • EMR is Epic, medication dispensing via Pyxis with barcode scanning
  • 12-hour night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Schedule is manager/scheduler driven, requiring every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements, but holiday coverage required as needed
  • Floating required to other ICU units, with travelers floated first

Requirements

  • Active RN license (AR or Compact) currently in hand
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and TNCC may be required based on unit needs
  • 2-5 years of clinical experience in pediatric intermediate/critical care required
  • Prior PICU experience required due to floating responsibilities
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required
  • At least one previous travel assignment required
  • Must test negative for nicotine

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients with complex diagnoses including respiratory distress, DKA, chronic ventilator dependence, and tracheostomies
  • Work within a Level 1 trauma, teaching hospital setting
  • Collaborate with Child Life & Education specialists who evaluate patients for educational needs during prolonged hospitalization
  • Facility dress code must be followed as outlined in compliance documentation
  • RNs should expect 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing upon arrival
  • Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius for local rate eligibility
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
