Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Oncology RN with chemotherapy certification and 2+ years of pediatric hem/onc experience for a night shift position in New Jersey.

Details

• Pediatric Oncology unit caring for all types of childhood cancers and sickle cell patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:3, which may vary based on census and acuity
• Every other weekend requirement
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Floating required within skillset to Peds, PICU stepdown, and Adolescent units
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, and APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card
• 2 years of pediatric hematology/oncology experience required (inpatient/outpatient)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy including blood/blood product administration, port care, central and peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Experience with pediatric dosage calculations, TPN/lipids, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, and body fluid handling post-chemo
• Experience assisting with lumbar puncture and managing neuromuscular disease and seizure disorders
• Skilled in chest tube management, oxygen delivery systems, and indwelling urinary catheter care
• Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care, and PEWS/Rapid Response Team protocols

• Work within the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital, an academic pediatric medical campus offering comprehensive pediatric hematology/oncology care including chemotherapy, radiation, cellular therapies, stem-cell transplantation, and clinical trials
• Provide direct patient care to pediatric oncology and sickle cell patients
• Winter holiday coverage required, working or providing on-call for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
