Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN Oncology - Pediatrics for a 13-week hospital assignment requiring APHON Chemotherapy certification and at least one year of pediatric hematology/oncology experience.

Details

  • Hospital-based Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit (Children's Jimmy Everest Center Hem/Onc)
  • Cares for pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex
  • Day shift schedule: 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week, 40 hours per week
  • 13-week contract assignment

Requirements

  • Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
  • Current PALS certification (AHA)
  • APHON Chemotherapy certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
  • Strong knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills required

Additional Information

  • Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of pediatric oncology patients
  • Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and treatments, noting changes in physician orders
  • Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Monitors physiological data and intervenes as needed based on patient condition
  • Administers prescribed medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors IV infusions and blood products
  • Communicates care plans with patients and families, including discharge planning
  • Educates patients and families on hospital procedures
  • Makes referrals for patient care needs and delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Facility maintains strict compliance deadlines, requiring prompt completion of onboarding, background checks, and medical requirements
  • Returning travelers may extend contracts one time up to a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
