Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric PACU RN with an active CA license and at least 2 years of Pediatric PACU experience for a high-volume role covering Pre-Op and PACU care.

Details

  • Pediatric PACU unit caring for patients ages 0-25 years across inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Handles all surgical specialties except open heart, NICU, and transplant cases including ENT, Urology, Neuro, Cath Lab, General Surgery, Plastics, GI, LPs, ABRs, and MRIs
  • High volume of patients with tracheostomies, ventilators, G-tubes, and home-vented children, though intubated patients are not routinely managed
  • Serves a high volume of Spanish-speaking, autistic, and special needs patients
  • Manages up to 18 pre-op and 18 post-op patients, with occasional neonates in pre-op
  • Required to work both Pre-Op and PACU
  • Day shift schedule (4x10 hours) with variable start times between 05:30-07:30
  • Weekend requirement of 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
  • On-call requirement of 2-3 calls per 6-week schedule
  • Required to float to Pre-Op, with travelers prioritized for floating assignments
  • Uses Cerner documentation system

Requirements

  • Active California RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
  • CCRN certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric PACU experience required
  • Experience with inpatient and outpatient care guidelines required
  • Experience with Phase 1, Phase 2, and discharge care in high-volume settings preferred
  • Experience with tracheostomy care and phlebotomy preferred
  • Two supervisor-level references required from the applicable unit, dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer

Additional Information

  • Provide perianesthesia care to a high-volume pediatric population, managing 80+ patients per day during peak periods
  • Must be agreeable to the required call, weekend, and float requirements prior to starting
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not considered local and travel rate eligibility may be affected
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • RTO requests are subject to manager approval
  • Former staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before reapplying
  • Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required, completed during orientation and varying by specialty
